The historic Downtown Santa Ana has not been a happy place recently as several blocks have been closed for construction of the OC Streetcar. Construction in the area started the end of January for what is planned to be a 4 mile long streetcar through the heart of Santa Ana.
Since construction started downtown business owners been upset about the construction which has caused them revenue loss for businesses still struggling because of the pandemic. Local business owners and residents have protested the disruption and now the Santa Ana City Council has got involved.
The Santa Ana City Council has approved $1.5 million in economic aid to help aid the business owners which some business owners have said isn’t enough. The planned OC Streetcar is due to open next year with its route going from the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center through Downtown Santa Ana and across the city ending near Little Saigon.
