February 15th 2023: Some residents of Irvine are concerned over the size of the proposed concert venue in the Great Park. The planned amphitheater is proposed to have 14,000 seats and would replace the current temporary Five Point Amphitheater.
If the amphitheater is downsized the City Of Irvines partner in the venue Live Nation could pull out. The cost of the venue would be split with the city paying $110 million and Live Nation paying $20 million. Hopefully the venue goes ahead as South Orange County needs a big name entertainment venue which it hasn’t had since Irvine Meadows closed years ago.
