The City Of Newport Beach has extended the emergency temporary use permits for sidewalk, parking lot dining until the end of the year. The previously extended permits were set to expire September 6th but as the pandemic continues the City Council as desired to continue the program.
The city still has to approve these temporary permits based things such as on location of business, parking available and compatibility.
Opinion:
I’m for these type of permits to help the restaurants under the current pandemic situation to help struggling restaurants out. But also after the current situation is hopefully over then public space such as the sidewalks should return to the public except in special areas where street side dining is allowed.
